I don’t know about your life, but I am one busy woman! I have A LOT going on, All. The. Time.

I have many roles in my life:

  • Wife
  • Mother
  • Business woman
  • Church attendee
  • Friend
  • Etc.

Each of those roles give me the opportunity to connect with important people in my life. Even though I work very hard to stay focused and present when I’m with different people, there’s often an underlying pull to be online and connected digitally. That magnetic pull is very strong and constant. Have you felt it too?

pexels-photo-26135I check LinkedIn several times a week. Facebook and Instagram gets checked a handful of times each week. Twitter typically when I need to research something or while attending a conference to follow the online conversation. But, other than that, I’m constantly working to stay off social media.

For me, I don’t need more information in my life. I don’t need to feel like I am falling behind… that’s a feeling I have enough in my roles of wife and mother. So, while some people recommend a full day once a week for a digital sabbath, I recommend to take a break as often as possible from checking social media sites. Every day, unplug from your devices and connect in-person with your family, friends and co-workers.
